Copenhagen Fashion Week 1 – I Picture You / You Picture Me by Carmakoma

Hej med jer,

(English below)

As promised, here is the first of my posts covering the curvy options during Copenhagen Fashion Week. This post is dedicated to Carmakoma’s collaboration with the National Organisation against eating disorders and selfharm.

The show was a statement show ment to show size diversity and featured models from EU36-EU48/UK8-UK20. It took place right in the middle of Copenhagen Central Station in the afternoon rush hour and it started as a quiet flashmob that evolved into a very nice, but complex choreography that was much more than a regular fashion show. A very, very nice statement that really got the message across, not least because of the suitcases containing the model’s own quotes on body image.

Modellerne kommer ind to og to i stilhed og tager opstilling // The models enter in pairs and in silence they take their places
Christina “leder” efter sin plads // Christina “looking for” her spot
Kufferterne væltes med et brag // The suitcases are knocked over with a loud bang
Modellerne går rundt i cirkler, ind og ud mellem hinanden // The models walk around in circles, weaving in and out between each other

Kecia Lies kuffert med citat // Kecia Lie’s suitcase and quote
Line Mikkelsens kuffert og citat // Line Mikkelsen’s suitcase and quote

My appearance in Go’ Morgen Danmark

Hej med jer,

(English below)

Watch my apperance on a Danish morning show right here (it is in Danish, but the styling is fab! 😉 )

Our goal with the section was to show that plus size women also want fahsion and not just clothes. What we wanted to show with the outfits we brought, was that you should not care about “the rules” and just do what you want!

Our apperance has had very positive response and that really proves to me that we need to see more size diversity in the media in general. I hope they will consider more plus size apperances and not just use us as a curiosity as a (sharp) contrast to the skinny girls on the runway. Many of the other articles and clips from TV, I have seen regarding curves during fashion week has been a little condesending and that is so wrong!

I also owe you a post on the many great events for curves in Copenhagen Fashion Week. I will be back very soon with this.

Copenhagen Fashion Week 2012 – PLUSliving fashion show

Hej med jer,

(English below)

Now a fantastic fashion week is over and I have really enjoied every minute of it. I have seen a lot of nice clothes and jewelry and talked to a lot of great people. And how fantastic it is that this time there was also focus on plus size women. This post is about Danish webzine PLUSliving’s fashion show which was held on Saturday evening in Copenhagen Fashion Week. There will be no shots from the catwalk, if you want a closer look at the clothes, please keep an eye out at PLUSliving’s webzine (articles only in Danish unfortunately). This post is a little backstage photo report from before the show to give you an idea of the mood and atmosphere, which were so great.

The fashion show has been organised by the team behind PLUSliving, Charlotte Mols and Gitte Glibstrup. They did not think that there was enough events that focused on curvy women and plus sizes, so they chose to do something about that. The succeeded in making a fantastic show with a lot of gorgeous models (amateurs as well as professionals). And the audience was really pleased.

The clothes in the show were all AW12 and from: Carmakoma, The X-Collection, DNY CPH, Gets, Studio, Gozzip, Plus, Yppig, Zizzi, Panayotis, Nine, Barund CPH, Festival, By K, Beck Söndergaard og Plaisir.

The guests were welcomed with champagne and choclate
It was such a great night that continued in the bar after the show where there was cocktails and mingling.

Was any of you there? 🙂

Copenhagen Fashion Week: Lab27 by Carmakoma Launch Party

Hi guys,

Yesterday was the best plussize event in the Copenhagen Fashion Week (ok, it was probably the only one, but either way, it was great!): the Lab27 by Carmakoma launch party.

The new Carmakoma sublabel is an inclusive label that ranges from size EU34 (UK4/US2) to EU54 (UK26/US24). I love the idea that all women regardless of size can wear the same clothes! And what a great collection it is! It has the edgy, sleek sillhouettes that is Carmakoma’s trademark, it has a lot of black though with a pop of colour (this time red! Can’t wait till August 2012 when it hit the stores!).

At the event, where I went with 3 other plussize bloggers: Rikke of Sticky Sweet Danish, Ditte of Marilyn’s Closet and Tanja of Miss Cherry Lipz, we had a chance to chat with the Carmakoma designers: Heidie Lykke and Angelica Weiss. They are very dedicated and I really admire their drive to make great designer clothes for the curvy body.

We also had the opportunity (once we had played the fashion blogger card and pushed our way to the backstage area) to get up close with the models and feel the rich beautiful fabrics. Both the clothes and the models looked fabulous. Watch out for these beautiful ladies: Maja Volmark and Line Mikkelsen.

All in all we had a great night filled with fun, fa(t)shion and free drinks 😉

The looks for the first Lab27 collection! I want it all!
Beautiful red lips on Maja Volmark and Line Mikkelsen (I can’t wait to get my hands on Line’s jacket it is a very nice bouclé Chanel-ish quality)

Drinks (ok, maybe not the most posh fashion blogger beverage, but I love it ;-)) and clutches.
